We crossed at Tecate at 5:30 a.m. The border guard gave us a stern look, glanced at the vehicle, and waved us on - not bothering to look at our passports or any documentation. Yeehaw! We've arrived.
Passed our first military check-point, where we were stopped by about a dozen guards, most of whom appeared to be teenagers. Drove through some gorgeous land -northern-Mexican wine country- as the sun was rising.
We're writing this from Ensenada, a small city on the west coast of Baja. Got our first ocean view as we descended into the town. Found a wifi-hotspot to send this note, are going to grab a quick breakfast, a good road map, and in a few minutes we'll hit the road.
