We have spent the past week living on our boat in a marina. We were hoping to post photos of our trip from Bercovich to Marina De La Paz, but we have not had any time or energy to do so. Plus, we have not been able to get internet connection on our dock. We'll do a more detailed posting soon. But as quick update, Lisa has been extremely busy doing chores and projects that require calm(ish) waters - for example, painting the name on the boat - and AC electricity, e.g., sewing projects. Dan has been fine-tuning the boat systems - installing LED lights, making the refrigerator more user-friendly, installing our propane BBQ, and more!
Today is a big day for us. We will thoroughly scrub down the outside of the boat, top off our water tank and jugs, and then head out into the bay. We're going to "anchor out" or live "on the hook," as some say. No more marina fees - we're finally going to be living without ties to the land.
We don't expect to get a lot of sleep tonight, as it will be the first time we will have set the anchor ourselves (actually, we're getting a friend to help us). If our anchor moves we could end up in the main boating channel. We've heard stories of how sailboats in the channel have been run over/run into by naval vessels, so we'll definitely be up a few times tonight checking our anchor.
